President Ruto Appoints New Chief of Defence Forces: President William Ruto on Thursday, May 2, appointed General Charles Muriu Kahariri as the new Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).
Kahariri was serving as Lieutenant General before he was promoted to General. He also served as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces and Acting Chief of Defence Forces, Right after General Ogolla’s Death.
The statement read,”His Excellency Hon Dr William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H, President of the Republic of Kenya, and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, pursuant to section 9 (2) (a) of the Kenya Defence Forces Act, has today promoted Lieutenant General Charles Muriu Kahariri to the rank of General and appointed him the Chief of the Defence Forces,”
The commander in chief also appointed Major General John Mugaravai Omenda as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces and automatically Promoted to LT general
Lieutenant General John Mugaravai Omenda was the Kenya Air Force Commander prior to his appointment. He will be replaced by Major General Fatuma Gaiti Ahmed, who has been posted to Kenya Air Force and appointed as Commander.
The statement read,”Similarly, Major General Paul Owuor Otieno has been posted to the Kenya Navy and appointed Commander,”
Major General Thomas Njoroge Ng’ang’a was posted to the National Defence University and appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Administration and Finance.
On the other hand, Brigadier Peter Nyamu Githinji was promoted to Major General and Senior Directing Staff, at National Defence College.
Brigadier Jattani Kampare Gula was also promoted to Major General and named as the new Managing Director of the Kenya Meat Commission.
Similarly, Brigadier George Okumu was promoted to Major General and appointed Managing Director of Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation and Food Processing Factory
Brigadier Samuel Kosgei Kipkorir has also been appointed as Deputy Commander of Kenya Air Force.
