TSC Issues a Revised Secondary Teachers’ Salary and Allowances For Different Job Groups: On 28th August, 2023, the Teachers Service Commission signed an addendum Agreement to the 2021-2025 Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) with the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (KUSNET).
The agreement has reviewed the remuneration payable to teachers which will be implemented in two (2) phases with effect from 1st July 2023. The second phase will be implemented on 1st July 2024 for the teachers who will be in service at the material time.
Firstly, Teachers on T-Scale 8 hired by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) are classified as Secondary Teachers II (SNE), and their monthly basic salary ranges from Ksh. 44,412 to Ksh. 56,514; so, they are divided into six salary points.
The tutors also qualify for a C3 allowance grade, which at the end of the month improves their total remuneration package.
For the TSC Secondary Teacher II (SNE) on T- Scale 8, their salary ranges based on the salary point, starting at ksh.44,412 for point 1 and increasing to ksh. 56,514 for point 6
Hardship Allowance of Ksh 12,300
Monthly commuter Allowance of Ksh 6,000
SNE Annual Leave Allowance of Ksh 6,000
Monthly Disability Guide Allowance of Ksh 20,000
