Body of Late Mountaineer Kirui to remain on Mt Everest, Family Gives Reasons why.
Body of Late Mountaineer Kirui to remain on Mt Everest: Family of late Kenyan hiker Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui says they have decided to let his body remain on Mt Everest.
Cheruiyot fell into a crevasse just 48 meters from the summit and retrieving his body from that height would pose major risks to any rescue team.
His parents say they do not wish to endanger any lives in the process.
They stated, “Cheruiyot deeply loved the mountains and they loved him in return. We find solace in knowing he rests in his happy place.”
The Late Kirui was reported missing above 8,000 meters on Mt Everest. Cheruiyot Kirui, embarked on a daring quest to summit the world’s highest peak without supplemental oxygen.
