Former Cabinet Secretary’s Daughter Charged With The Killing of Two Soldiers: Ex-Minister Soita Shitanda’s daughter has been charged with vehicular homicide in the US
A 23-year-old daughter of former Cabinet Minister, Soita Shitanda has been charged with vehicular homicide in Washington State of USA.
Candy Soita’s preliminary breath test registered as 0.97 approximately four hours after the collision, according to court documents.
The driver involved in a wrong-way crash that killed two soldiers in Pierce County on Sunday has been charged with vehicular homicide.
Soita is facing two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault.
According to court documents, Soita was driving the wrong way on SR 512 at 2 a.m. on June 2 when she collided with another vehicle head-on near E Canyon Rd.
According to police records, the 23 year old woman was under influence of alcohol.
The two soldiers killed in the crash were identified as Spc. Charles T. Fairbairn, 29, and Spc. Wendell T. Cerio, 22, and were stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
A third soldier in the car was taken to a hospital with injuries and has since been released.
The documents said Soita was traveling with her one-year-old daughter at the time of the crash.
The infant was not injured, Soita was transported to the hospital where troopers reportedly smelled intoxicants coming from her breath and said she had watery bloodshot eyes, according to the documents.
Soita’s preliminary breath test registered as .097 approximately four hours after the collision.
