ODM Supporter Nuru Okanga Has Been Arrested After Viral TikTok & YouTube Posts: Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) diehard Nuru Okanga will spend five days locked up over comments he shared on social media.
He was arrested on Tuesday, June 11, during an operation at his home in Kayole and later taken to DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road for grilling.
Okanga is being accused of running suspicious accounts with posts considered detrimental to the state.
According to the prosecution counsel, Virginia Kariuki, the comments were posted by a number of social media accounts on TikTok and YouTube.
The prosecution argued that the posts are a threat and have a potential of causing disturbances affecting peace, order, and public safety.
They were published on a number of websites linked to the suspect. Okang’a is also being charged for cyber harassment which contravenes the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
The judge at Milimani law courts ordered Nuru to be detained at the Muthaiga police station to allow time the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to complete investigations.
