CJ Koome Visits Home of Slain Magistrate Kivuti, Issues New Directives Effective immediately: On Saturday, Koome visited the home of Makadara Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti who was shot on Thursday afternoon at the Makadara Law Courts after she made a ruling in a case involving a policeman’s wife.
Earlier while confirming Kivuti’s death, CJ Koome said the Judiciary stands with her family and friends.
“We condole with the family, friends and the entire Judiciary fraternity during this very difficult period of mourning. The Judiciary family stands in solidarity during this deeply traumatic time and calls for sensitivity and compassion as we share in grief,” she said.
Consequently, The judicial flag will be flown half mast in honour of the fallen Magistrate whose life was cut short.
The Judiciary flag will fly at half-mast from today (Saturday) across all court stations until Hon Kivuti is laid to rest,” CJ Koome said in a statement on Saturday.
Notably, CJ Koome highlighted that all court sittings scheduled for June 18 and matters listed across all courts and tribunals stand suspended.
“No Court will sit on this day. Matters that had been listed on Tuesday across all Courts and Tribunals will be accommodatedin the Court dairies on priority basis,” she said.
