MP Reveals Why Several People in Githurai Were Shot Dead After Tuesday’s Protests: Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi has came out with claims pointing as to why police killed several people in Githurai.
Speaking in an interview at a local radio station, Beatrice Elachi stated that the police received reliable information that the parliament mace that was stolen in Parliament was in Githurai.
According to intelligence reports, the police were informed that the man that was pictured with the parliamentary mace resides in Githurai, thus the prompt response to trace it.
Elachi detailed that the police killed a total of 272 innocent people in Githurai on Tuesday night in an effort to locate the missing mace.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) member of Parliament however said that the polics were unsuccessful in their efforts. This comes after a youth was pictured in the streets of Nairobi with the parliamentary mace.
The youth who allegedly got the mace from Parliament after the Gen Z invaded parliament on Tuesday was not identified at the time of the protests.
However, Speaker Moses Wetangula has denied media reports that the House mace was stolen by demostrators, stating it was a dummy mace on display and that claims were false.
He stated that the parliamentary mace is highly secured and it was not accessed by the Gen Z Protesters as reported by the section of the media
