We are Ending Bursaries Because Gen Z Keep Insulting Us – MP Claims
We are Ending Bursaries: Speaking over the weekend, Lurambi Member of Parliament Titus Khamala, Claimed that legislators had spoken in one voice stop disbursing bursaries to students
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) elected MP remarked that the legislators received a lot of backlash on the way they spend the fund, hence they made the decision to stop disbursing
He particularly put the blame Gen Z who allegedly went as far as terming them as MPigs in reference to their perceived ‘greedy nature’
He stated,”As MPs, we have spoken in one voice about CDF which is bringing us problems, we are being insulted and called MPigs. To end it and to make Gen Z happy, the bursary that goes to Gen Z, we have said we end it. Prepare yourself with life without bursaries.”
The MP claimed that only Gen Z benefitted from the bursaries and it was sad to see them biting the hand that fed them.
He explained that going forward, students will be seeking the Minister of Education Ezekiel Machogu to help them clear school fees.
Alternatively, they could visit their respective county offices or apply for a loan through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
The Lurambi MP made the remarks following reports that the NG-CDF Act was being amended to remove MPs from the implementation structures of the Fund.
