President Ruto Appoints New Acting Cabinet Secretary For All Ministries: President William Ruto has appointed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi as the acting Cabinet Secretary in all Ministries.
In a special Gazette Notice dated July 12, where the President dismissed all the cabinet secretaries, Ruto declared that Musalia would be in charge of all vacant portfolios.
“That pursuant to Article 152 (5) (a) of the Constitution, Hon. Wycliffe Musalia Mudavadi, E.G.H., is assigned as the Acting Cabinet Secretary in all vacant ministerial portfolios,” the gazette notice read.
Following the gazettement all ministries were declared vacant with the exception of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
According to the gazette notice, the President cited the need to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability in public service delivery by realigning its governance structure.
“Conscious that review and re-organization of My Administration is necessary to embed operational enhancements and foster responsive governance,” stated Ruto.
The gazette notice also declared the office of the Attorney General vacant as per the President’s previous announcement on July 11.
“That in accordance with section 12 (1) of the Office of the Attorney-General Act (Chapter 6A, Laws of Kenya), the appointment of Hou. Justin B. N. Muturi, E.G.H. as the Attorney-General is rescinded,” stated the Notice.
