Uproar As CS Mbadi Reveals There Is No Money To Employ The Additional 20,000 JSS Teachers: Speaking during an Interview at Citizen Tv, Treasury CS Mbadi Outlined that the government does not have money to employ Junior Secondary School teachers on permanent and pensionable terms nor does it have resources for the additional 20,000 JSS teachers.
According to The Treasury CS, This has culminated from a shortfall in the budget and therefore, the government cannot address JSS teachers’ concerns.
He stated, “We don’t have resources for recruiting JSS teachers on permanent and pensionable terms, and we do not have the resources for the additional 20,000 JSS teachers that was reduced in the estimates,”
“There is a shortfall of about Sh13 billion. There is no money available for the conversation of JSS teachers unless we make budget adjustments, which we don’t have space for,” Mbadi added.
Netizens Have Since Reacted;
Mohammed Wrote,” In a surprising turn of economic wizardry, new Treasury head John Mbadi has declared that while there’s no money for hiring teachers, there’s more than enough to print new notes. During a tense interview with Sam Gituku, Mbadi struggled to articulate the financial acrobatics that allow Kenya to splurge on currency but skimp on education. Critics across social media have been quick to highlight this ‘Mbadinomics’ – where fiscal priorities are as clear as mud. Netizens are left wondering if perhaps the government thinks teachers can educate with freshly printed money instead of knowledge,”
Mutoro expressed,”John Mbadi is right. There are no resources to convert JSS teachers … but …
■ We have enough tens of billions to be squandered on NG-CDF and County Governments in the name of bursaries?
■ We need to reboot our education system.”
Edgar expressed,” John Mbadi now says that the government doesn’t have resources for recruiting JSS teachers on permanent and they don’t have resources for the additional 20,000. But they have the money for the offices of the First Lady and second lady which are unconstitutional.”
