Raila Unveils His Academic Qualifications in his bid for the African Union Commission chairperson seat.
In 2018-2023, Raila served as a High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa where he enhanced the efforts of the Commission in the implementation of the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).
The ODM leader holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Technology from Magdeburg Technical School & Otto-Von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany.
The year 2009, Florida Agricultural Mechanical University, USA awarded him an Honorary Doctorate, while in 2008 has got a Doctor of Laws, (LLD) (Honoris Causa) from the University of Nairobi.
In 2008, he was also awarded the Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH) banking on his experience at the AU to propel him to clinch the seat.
He also Has a Certificate in Senior Management from Kenya Institute of Management and a Kenya Certificate in Standardization and Quality Control from the University of Denver, in Colorado, USA.
Additional certifications listed in his curriculum vitae include Establishment of Natural Physical Standards, National Bureau of Standards & Technology from Gaithersburg, MD, USA and another one in Standards Specification writing, British Standards Institution (BSI Group).
Other honors include the Greater Good Award from Mizani Africa, Doctor of Sciences (Honoris Causa) from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science & Technology and BEFFTA Award for Global Leadership (The Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts) from London, UK.
Additional Honors include Embrace Women, Building Bridges in Kenya, The Golden Jubilee Award, the Doctorate of Leadership in Social Development (Honoris Causa) from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Kuala Lumpur and Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) from Maseno University.
