DP Gachagua, CS John Mbadi Reveal Resolutions After Meeting at DP’s Karen Home: On Monday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua chaired the 24th Ordinary Session of the IBEC bringing together Governors, Cabinet Secretaries, respective commissions and independent offices and other stakeholders, at Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi County.
He stated,”It is crucial to continue nurturing smooth working relations between the two levels of Government through frequent consultations to keep the wheels of Devolution rolling towards a better nation,”
Present were the Chairpersons of Independent Commissions including Lynn Mengich, Mary Wanyonyi, Margaret Nyakang’o, Kithinji Kiragu and KRA Commissioner Domestic Taxes Rispah Simiyu, Clerks of the Senate and National Assembly Jeremiah Nyegenye and Samuel Njoroge, respectively.
Wilberforce Otichillo, Paul Otuoma, Benjamin Cheboi, Deputy Governors Njoroge Muchiri, Francis Mwangangi, David Kinaniri, Flora Mbetsa Chibule, Mathara Mwangi and Chirema Komboand the COG Chief Executive Officer Mary Mwiti were also present.
Present were Cabinet Secretaries John Mbadi, Rebecca Miano, PSs Teresiah Mbaika, Dr Paul Rono, Silvia Museiya, Governors Fernande Barasa also representing CoG Chairperson Anne Waiguru, Johnson Sakaja, Ken Lusaka, Joshua Irungu, Issa Timamy, Wisley Rotich, Simon Kachapin
DP Gachagua said,”We will constantly consult because it is the guaranteed way of moving forward together in transforming the country through sound fiscal policies founded on people-centred approach,”
“The IBEC Sessions allow the National Government, the County Governments and Constitutional Commissions and Independent Offices to have in-depth discussions and interrogation of fiscal policy and other governance matters,” he added.
Others present included PS Kilemi, Agric. Committee Chairperson Sen. Kamau Murango, Hon. Patrick Osero (MP Borabu) of the parliament Committee on Agric. and stakeholders in the subsectors, including Kenya Tea Board, New KPCU, KTDA, KEPROBA, KALRO, among others.
DP Gachagua Outlined,” It is noteworthy that reforms in the subsectors so far have brought back the vibrancy, and our objective is to sustain and power this trajectory,”
“We remain focused on delivering drastic reforms in the Tea, Coffee and Dairy Subsecors in our quest to put more money into the pocket of the small-scale farmer,”
