Gov’t Sends Message to Parents Night Before School Reopening: The Office of the Government Spokesperson on Sunday night assured parents that the welfare of their children will be taken care of once schools reopen on Monday, August 26.
In a statement shared last night, an a hour to midnight, the Office of the Government Spokesperson headed by Isaac Mwaura noted that the assurance was reached after a meeting between the Ministry of Education and the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESHA).
The notice Read,”With regard to the looming teachers strike occasioned by labour dispute between teachers’ unions and the TSC (Teachers Service Commission), KESSHA in collaboration with the ministry of education and the TSC would wish to assure all the parents and the learners countrywide that the learner’s welfare and well-being would be safeguarded while in the institutions of learning,”
“Subsequently, parents are advised to prepare learners for third term school reopening starting 26 August 2024,” read part of the Notice.
This comes amidst confusion on teachers strike scheduled to kick off on Monday over what teachers described as a result of TSC’s failure to honour the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA
