Kenya Met Warns of Extreme Cold and Rainy Conditions: Starting on Saturday, August 31, and continuing until Wednesday, September 3, residents in Nairobi, Kiambu, and other areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley should prepare for low temperatures and intermittent rain.
The Highlands, including counties such as Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka, are set to experience expected to experience scattered showers on Saturday.
The Director of the Kenya Met Department stated, “Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.”
Further south, the South-eastern lowlands, including Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, will experience a mix of sunny weather and cloudy intervals, particularly at night.
The temperatures in this region are expected to vary, with a low of 9°C on Tuesday and reaching up to 30°C on Monday and Tuesday, providing some respite from the chilly conditions experienced elsewhere.
The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, covering counties such as Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira, will also escape the wet weather.
In these areas, Rainfall is anticipated throughout the weekend, with showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoons and nights from Saturday to Wednesday.
Temperatures in these areas will also fluctuate, ranging from a cool 9°C to a warmer 33°C on Sunday.
Residents along the Coast, including Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, will also experience a wet week.
From Monday to Wednesday, continuous showers are anticipated throughout the day and night, with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 30°C.
