Police Confirm 9 People Dead After Matatu Collides With a Truck Along The Kipsitet-Muhoroni Road

Police Confirm 9 People Dead: The accident occurred after the Londiani-bound lorry lost control after hitting a pothole before ramming into the 14-seater matatu that was en route to Kisumu.

Preliminary reports suggested that about thirteen people lost their lives following the accident, with several others left nursing critical injuries.

A rescue operation was quickly scrambled to help rescue those trapped under the wreckage. The rescue team was comprised of police officers and the locals.

Footage circulating widely depicted the Public Service Vehicle (PSV) damaged extensively with its windows shattered and pieces of glass scattered all over the road.

Meanwhile, the lorry was damaged on its front side, with footage depicting the truck leaning on one of its sides with the windscreen completely broken.

While confirming the accident, Kericho County Commander Geoffrey Mayek revealed that the driver of the lorry fled the scene after causing the accident.
