Gov’t Publishes Names of 81 Landlords & Issues Caution[LIST]: The Government has published the list of parcels of land to be included in the construction of the Karimenu II Dam Water Supply Project.
In its notice in the Kenya Gazette, the National Land Commission, on behalf of Athi Water Works Development Agency, highlighted that it intended to delete, correct and add parcels of land required for construction of the project.
One parcel of land was deleted and 69 were corrected. Further, 11 parcels of land were added to the list of lands required for the construction of Karimenu II Dam.
The area required for the expansion of the dam is estimated to be 3.7516 hectares which will affect 81 landlords in total.
The dam was conceived following a feasibility study in 2012 to develop a master plan for developing new water sources for Nairobi and its suburbs.
It was recommended for development as one of the sources of water supply in Ruiru, Juja, and the adjoining areas, set to serve a populace of 850,000 people
It will include a water reservoir with storage of 26.5 million cubic metres (m3) a treatment plant and two terminal tanks of capacities 23,500 m3 and 3,000 m3 in Ruiru and Juja respectively.
Additionally, the dam will have a water supply tunnel about 408 metres long, a water intake tower, a trestle bridge on piers and a spillway.
