CS Kindiki Finally Issues Update on Hillside Endarasha Tragedy: On Thursday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki warned Kenyans against spreading fake news about the Hillside Endarasha tragedy.
Speaking to the press in Nyeri, The CS disclosed that he had seen a section of Kenyans sharing false figures about the number of those affected by the fire incident.
He stated, “I have seen some statements made by people on social media about numbers, and I want to put the record straight and say a matter like this is a national security issue. Being a national security matter, we have nothing to hide. We will provide information daily.”
The CS clarified that investigations were still ongoing and urged Kenyans to exercise patience even as security agencies heightened their efforts to unravel the truth.
“We will pursue and get justice for the affected families and all those who contributed to this tragedy will be brought to account,” Kindiki remarked.
According to the CS, all the 330 pupils who had boarded at the school were accounted for highlighting that 140 pupils residing inside the affected dormitory had already been reunited with their parents with three still undergoing treatment.
“Today, I have been reliably informed that the process of reconciliation of the pupils to their parents is complete,” the CS commented.
