Fire Razes Down County Government Accounting Offices After Auditor General’s Visit
Fire Razes Down County Government of Migori’s Accounting Offices Moments After The Auditor General’s Visit
The mysterious fire broke out on Wednesday night. According to reports, the officials from the Auditor General’s office visited the county to probe an alleged embezzlement of Ksh78 billion during the 2020/2021 financial year.
Confirming the incident was an accounting officer from Migori county government, who dismissed any links of the fire to a potential cover-up
He detailed that all the requisite accounting books were intact and the documents that were razed were those that were of little use.
“All the books that we use in accounting are all intact and it is utterly false to claim that the books were burnt to hide something,” noted the county official.
“I want to assure you that we the members of the county assembly do not put anything under the table and make sure that all the perpetrators of the fire are brought to book.”
