UDA Sec Gen Issues Way Forward on Gachagua’s Impeachment
UDA Sec Gen Issues Way Forward on Gachagua’s Impeachment while speaking at a function attended by several Politicians.
According to the Acting United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Hassan Omar, the signature collection drive aimed at securing enough votes from MPs required to table a motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is underway.
He disclosed that the drive had already hit the 300 mark, surpassing the 117 threshold.
Omar has since faulted the deputy president for creating division in the country and further accused him of playing tribal politics despite being a national leader.
“What we are seeing him currently doing is argue for the same old policies, of malice, division, hatred and ethnicity,” Omar claimed.
“I don’t think it is proper to have a deputy president who is a threat to the country’s unity,” he added.
This comes hours after Central Organisation for Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli called for the arrest of the deputy president.
“You prayed to God so that he can help you to run the government and then you start to contradict government policies and you sit in the cabinet and the National Security Council,” Atwoli said.
“You should be arrested, there is no country that can tolerate such a person, for the sake of securing the country,” he added.
