EACC Raids Home and Arrests Gov’t Cleaner for allegedly acquiring wealth worth Ksh615 million through corrupt ways.
According to EACC, The individual is suspected to have acquired wealth through public theft and misappropriation at the expense of the public’s funds.
He owns a private school, pieces of land, vehicles, and other high-end properties, several restaurants and residential buildings in Kakamega County.
It was also revealed that the private school is worth over Ksh220 million, currently run by the spouse of the suspect.
The Commission reasonably believes the source of the suspect’s wealth emanated from kickbacks from suppliers and contractors when he served in the procurement department before he was moved to his current post as head of cleaning in Kakamega county.
Speaking during the probe, EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi noted that the arrest and search operation of the head of the Kakamega County cleaning services was part of an ongoing investigation into suspected proceeds of corruption.
After the arrest, the suspect was taken to EACC Bungoma Regional Offices where he recorded a statement.
