KCSE Student Goes Missing While Another Drowns as Exams Officially Kick Off
KCSE Student Goes Missing Nairobi’s Kariobangi area. The student who has since been identified as Seth Ruben Okoth, has been missing since last Saturday.
He was a student at Our Lady of Fatima in Kariobangi and was last seen in Lucky Summer in Nairobi.
Elsewhere, another family in Machakos was left in mourning following the death of their son, Able Mwendwa, a candidate at Katalembo Center
Mwendwa drowned while swimming at a dam near the school while he was returning from school after allegedly being sent home for fees.
However, his parents claimed that their son had been sent home for fees without any information from the management of the school.
“We have tried asking what happened but the teacher on duty refused to talk to me telling me that he was not allowed to speak,’’ revealed the mother.
‘’My son called me and told me he had been sent home for fees by the principal and when I asked him why the school had not called me, he told me that he was not aware and that I had to call the principal to get the information,’’ the distraught mother added.
‘’We came to know what happened to our son because I was called yesterday at 3 pm by my sister. Before I could even reach here, I was asked to go to Montezuma Funeral Home,’’ one of the student’s kin added.
According to eyewitnesses, the student decided to get into the dam to swim while going home from school before meeting his death.
“Immediately I arrived, I saw the man naked and I tried saving him. However, he was heavy and before I got hold of him, he drowned,’’ a good samaritan, who tried saving him, revealed.
