MP Calls For Changes in Parliament After Gachagua’s Impeachment[LIST]
Mbeere North Member of Parliament Geoffrey Ruku has called on the National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah to sanitize the National Assembly, particularly the committee leaders
The lawmaker argued that the National Assembly sanitized the presidency and impeached former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the security leadership, it was time for the house to clean itself.
“Before we go to recess in December, we must sanitize the Parliament of Kenya especially the committees of Parliament. Kindly leader of Majority Kimani Ichung’wah, and other leaders in the National Assembly, we need to reconstitute those committees so that we can be able to align the committee leadership,” asserted Ruku on Tuesday.
Ruku further cited that some of the chairs in the committees should be removed so that the National Assembly can deliver the policies and laws that can save the nation
MP Ruku accused some chairmen of the committees of allegedly budgeting graft in the country’s national budget.
His concerns come after the speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula called out committee chairs and vice chairs for serial absenteeism and warned he intends to crack the whip on them.
Speaking on Monday, October 28 during a Parliamentary retreat in Naivasha, Nakuru County, Wetangula cited that the recent trend has had a negative effect paralyzing critical Bills affecting Kenyans.
