Government Makes Fresh Decision on Closure of 348 Boarding Schools
The Ministry of Education has given Directors of the 348 boarding schools earmarked for closure for non-compliance, four more weeks to comply.
This follows a joint meeting with the Ministry of Education and the Private Schools Association where the head of the organisation told the ministry that most of the schools on the list were in the process of rectifying their shortcomings.
The Members of Parliament had hit out at the ministry for making an abrupt decision to close the schools instead of doing a follow-up assessment for the said schools
Principals and directors of the affected schools condemned the decision, stating that the government had failed to consult before closing down the schools.
