Drama As Residents Disrupt Ruto’s Speech From Being Read at Jamhuri Event
Residents of Nyandarua County caused a chaos as President William Ruto’s speech was about to be read during the 61st Jamhuri Day celebrations.
The incident which happened at Engineer Stadium, started when Nyandarua County Commissioner Mohamed Barre took to the stage to read Ruto’s Jamhuri speech.
The crowd, which was calm, immediately turned rowdy and started protesting while raising their voices with others standing up and throwing their hands in the air.
Efforts by the county commissioner to read the speech were unsuccessful as the booing grew louder from the angry crowd.
Members of the audience approached the podium where the speaker was, shouting effectively drowning Barre’s voice.
The National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO) had to spring into action to protect the county commissioner from the hostile audience as he struggled to read the President’s address.
Disgruntled by the county commissioner’s persistence to read Ruto’s speech, the attendees staged a walkout from the venue while chanting anti-government slogans.
