KNEC Sets Record Straight on 2024 KCSE Grading
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) refuted claims showing the grading systems to be used In this year’s marking.
In a post on X social media, KNEC rejected online posts purporting to show there’s new grading system for KCSE exams that were done in November
Notably, KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njengere, rejected claims that results were being changed for particular students.
He revealed that the documents circulated online purporting to invite students interested in changing marks were fake.
According to the flagged post, a group of individuals reportedly partnered with an official who works at the KNEC offices to aid in changing marks for specific students.
KNEC’s announcement comes a week after examiners began marking KCSE exams that were completed on November 22.
During a recent announcement, the Ministry of Education revealed that marking would be complete before the end of December.
KNEC further highlighted that marking exams is a confidential exercise and they cannot reveal the details of examiners taking part in the process, dismissing claims that those rejected came from schools that are suspected to have been involved in exam malpractices.
