Shots Fired, Police Loby Teargas As Chaos Erupts At Event Attended by Former DP Gachagua
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua endured yet another hostile atmosphere as he was forced to scamper for safety with his envoy during the thanksgiving service for Shamata Ward MCA Gitau Njamba in Nyandarua County.
The event took a wrong turn when Nyandarua Senator John Methu was addressing the crowd before his speech was disrupted by fracas.
Images and videos circulating depicted an angry crowd challenging the police who subsequently fired teargas and live bullets to disperse the agitated crowd.
Another video showed the bishop desperately trying to calm the crowd, which was adamant the police needed to leave the event.
Gachagua spoke immediately after the chaos in Nyandarua insisting that he would continue to fight for Kenyans’ rights despite apparent persecution from the government.
The former Deputy President went ahead to accused an area Member of Parliament in Nyandarua of being the mastermind behind the attempt to disrupt the prayer event.
Senator Methu who also spoke at the event hinted that some forces were intent on ensuring the event did not take place since Gachagua would be in attendance.
