Tension As Border Land Dispute Between Two Counties Turns Violent
Trans Mara residents in Narok County are counting losses after unknown goons raided and destroyed a 15,000 acre maize farm.
The goons raided the piece of land in Angata near the Narok-Migori border on New Year’s Eve, leaving the residents stuck, counting losses and decrying for help.
The incident is believed to have started on December 29 and continued until December 31, when maize plantations were cut down from several acres within the 15,000 acres of land.
The residents are now calling on the government to intervene and help resolve the land dispute. The 15,000 acres of land at the border have been involved in border disputes due to the deteriorating state of security in the area.
Confirming the incident Trans Mara South police commander Bashir Ali has who assured them that the incident is under investigation
The police commander has also dispelled any allegations that the dispute is linked to any political tones.
