Ghana President’s Aide-de-Camp collapses during State of the Nation address
Ghana President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s Aide-de-Camp, Colonel Isaac Amponsah, collapsed while standing guard in Parliament during the final State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, 2025.
The incident occurred shortly after President Akufo-Addo delivered his speech, where he outlined the government’s achievements and future plans for Ghana.
However, Colonel Amponsah, a long-serving member of the President’s security team, suddenly lost his balance and fell down, causing brief disruption in the chambers.
Parliament’s medical team responded swiftly, administering first aid before transporting the ADC to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
President Akufo-Addo, visibly concerned, paused proceedings to ensure Col. Amponsah received appropriate care before continuing with the session.
This address held significant importance as it marked President Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address before the conclusion of his term, offering reflections on Ghana’s progress and future direction.
