Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua appeals to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to closely monitor activities in Kenya due to the resurgence of suspected criminal gangs.
According to Gachagua, the above mentioned gaings are linked to politically motivated abductions and killings of youths ahead of the 2027 elections.
He stated,”The ICC should not wait until crimes against humanity have been committed, get a team of lawyers to write to the ICC to invite them to come to Kenya and make sure that the activities of criminal gangs are not allowed to take place.”
“You should document the atrocities that were previously committed by the same gangs because those were crimes against humanity and start engaging the International Criminal Court. In the past, the gangs descend on the people of this region with brutal efficiency, they beheaded people and circumcised women, raped our daughters and defiled our children,” he added.
Gachagua went on to encourage Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, not to continue speaking up. His message comes after MP Ichung’wah lashed out at the governor for calling out the government on Abductions.
Gachagua stated,”Please do not let the Court Poets & Masters of platitude distract you from the work you are doing of delivering to the people of Trans-Nzoia County. These Court Jesters are on the misguided assignment of providing comic relief to their master.
“And do not be cowed from speaking out on behalf of the people of Kenya when it’s necessary. The rants and tirade being thrown at you are a clear testimony that you are making an impact as you speak truth to power. My prayer is that you will continue to do so, and to unite your people and protect their dignity and political pride. This unity, I assure you, will ensure that your people’s interests are always front and centre of the focus of any administration,” he added.
