The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has refuted claims circulating online, purporting that it ranked Nyambaria High School as the top institution in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
The examination council, in a statement on Thursday afternoon, flagged a viral social media post suggesting that Nyambaria High School topped in the just released exam results with a mean grade of 10.87.
In the now flagged list, Cardinal Otunga came second among the best-performing schools with a mean score of 10.76 closely followed by Kokuro Boys and Alliance at 10.68 and 10.52 respectively.
The flagged social media post further ranked St Brigids Girl Kiminini, Strathmore School, and Pangani Girls High School at positions five, six, and seven respectively
Other schools purported to have emerged among the top ten schools countrywide included Nakuru Boys High School, Asumbi High School, and Mang’u High.
KNEC explained that the list circulating on social media platforms about top schools was fake and misleading. It went ahead to advise members of the public to ignore the list.
