A dormitory at Cardinal Otunga High School in Mosocho, Kisii County, was on Thursday burnt down by a mysterious fire.
Reportedly, the fire broke out at around 6 pm, where it razed down the dormitory barely two days after students had resumed their studies at the institution.
Moments later, firefighters from the Kisii County Government arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames with the help of students and locals.
Videos and images shared on social media showed the school dormitory completely engulfed in smoke as students watched helplessly while the flames consumed the building.
Notably the circulating footage depicted the firefighters battling the inferno which had already consumed a chunk of the building. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
Speaking to the press after the incident, the school officials revealed that an investigation had already been launched into what the administration claimed could be an act of arson.
The incident happened hours after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba released the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
