Detectives attached at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) escaped death on Saturday, after angry Kirinyaga county residents almost lynched them.
The officers had reportedly gone on operational duty to arrest a suspect in Kiamanyeki, Mwea where they were met with mob justice.
According to the locals, the detectives failed to identify themselves, and thus to them, they turned out as potential abductors that when The crowd made attempts to kill themselves.
Immediately, the scene turned dramatic when the residents surrounded the operational vehicle the officers were using, a Subaru Imprezza
Additionally, the residents attempted to set the vehicle ablaze as they raised fear over the spreading wave of abductions.
However, the officers managed to escape unhurt after dispersing the rowdy crowd. This is after they managed to diffuse the crowd.
It also took the effort of local police officers who had been called in to try to calm the situation as tensions continued to grow.
