Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) in Mavindini Police Station, Guyo Dida, has twice been arrested after being found directing traffic within Nairobi, over 170Km from his workplace.
Guyo Dida was arrested at Globe Cinema Roundabout after a tip from a good Samaritan who noticed the officer arguing with a motorist.
A police officer privy to the matter said that the motorist was stopped by the officer who was in full uniform with claims that she was breaking traffic rules.
Mr. Guyo then demanded that they drive to the police station, however, on the way, he allegedly asked her to pay him Sh15,000 to secure her release.
Witness accounts state that Mr Dida was angry with his colleague who stopped the vehicle, saying he is interfering with his work.
Mr Dida allegedly slapped his colleague, leading to an altercation that ended up with his uniform getting partially torn.
Concerned Members of the public noticed the altercation and moved to intervene. That’s when Mr Dida was arrested and detained at Central Police Station.
On October 23, 2024, while on leave, Mr Dida was arrested after being found conducting unauthorised traffic duties at Bunyala Roundabout in Makadara Sub-County.
According to a police report, officers from the Industrial Area Police Station arrested him donned in full Persian blue uniform.
He was also found in possession of a communication device belonging to the Tourist Police Unit.
Mr Dida was later moved to the Kathonzweni Sub-County police commander and detained at Makueni Police Station for disciplinary action.
