A fire incident has just been reported at Moi Girls High School, Nairobi.
According to The Kenya Red Cross, the fire began late in the evening, with its cause yet to be established.
Rescue teams are currently at the scene to contain the inferno. Preliminary reports indicate that all students had been evacuated from the building.
Eyewitnesses say three fire engines were spotted around the school to contain the inferno, moments after it was reported.
Incidentally, the incident came barely two weeks after schools reopened for the 2025 academic year, which officially
Moi girls has a history of fire incidents. In 2017, a dormitory fire claimed the lives of 10 students, with a 14-year-old found guilty of arson. She was effectively charged with manslaughter.
At the time of her sentencing, the judge ruled that she did not intend to kill her colleagues but started the fire in order to force a transfer to another school.
