Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday claimed that Kenya Kwanza Government has set in place a scheme to Oust Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Gachagua spoke Meru PCEA Church where he claimed there was an elaborate plan to oust Koome from office ahead of the 2027 General Election.
According to Gachagua, President William Ruto was also keen on disbanding the Supreme Court ahead of the next general election.
The former Deputy President went on to suggest that a budget had already been set aside for the scheme.
He stated,”There is a bigger scheme to dismantle the Supreme Court ahead of the 2027 elections. A budget has been set aside through the National Intelligence Service.”
Gachagua’s sentiments came just days after it emerged that Koome’s security detail had been withdrawn and later reinstated.
While referring to Koome’s recent woes, the former DP claimed it was a calculated scheme from the State to frustrate the Chief Justice into resignation.
Gachagua stated, “All those petitions you see in the Supreme Court are the makings of the government because they would like to put a Supreme Court bench that is amicable to what those in power want.”
Gachagua’s remarks follows Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen’s statement where he insisted that the withdrawal was a routine process within the National Police Service (NPS).
Koome was also recently struck with a petition from the former President of the law society of Kenya, where he demanded that Koome and other Supreme Court judges removed over alleged gross misconduct.
