At least three students have reportedly died after getting involved in an accident along the Wundanyi-Mwatate road in Taita Taveta County.
Reportedly, the bus got involved in the accident after it experienced brake failure and lost control before overturning along the busy highway.
At the time of publishing this artice, It had been confirmed that the trio who died were students of Dr Aggrey High School in Wundanyi, Taita Taveta County, who had been sent home after a fire razed down one of the school dormitories on Thursday.
Others who also died in the accident include the driver of the bus. Meanwhile, several other passengers are currently in critical condition and were rushed to the Moi Referral Hospital in Voi for treatment.
Videos and images curculating online depicted the bus completely damaged with a broken windscreen, windows, chairs, and deflated tyres, depicting the extent of the crash.
Firefighters from the Taita Taveta County government along with the area police officers arrived at the scene and towed the mangled vehicle away from the road before cordoning the area to pave the way for investigations.
Meanwhile, Dr Aggrey High School was closed indefinitely on Saturday, February 1, following a second dormitory fire that was reported at the institution on Saturday morning.
