Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has officially confirmed the resignation of Interim CEO Patrick Korir.
FKF President Hussein Mohammed announced that Korir tendered his resignation letter on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
Korir was appointed as acting CEO on October 8, 2024, under the FKF leadership of Nick Mwenda, following the resignation of Barry Otieno, who stepped down to pursue the FKF presidency in the upcoming December elections.
“FKF will soon appoint a new General Secretary as Korir serves the one-month notice of his resignation,” FKF President Hussein Mohammed said on Wednesday when he received the report of the FKF Transition Ad-Hoc Committee.
As per the FKF Constitution, the new General Secretary will only take office once the FKF National Executive Committee confirms the appointment of the candidate proposed by the FKF President.
Korir took over the role on October 8, 2024, after his predecessor, Barry Otieno, resigned to vie for the FKF Presidency. Otieno had held the position since 2019, following the resignation of Robert Muthomi.
On Wednesday, FKF President Hussein Mohammed acknowledged the precarious financial state of the federation, stating that FKF plans to consolidate its bank accounts, restructure its debts, and increase funding for women’s and youth football.
