Authorities in Ruai are investigating an incident in which police officers allegedly raided the house of a the senator’s woman’s wife over theft of KSh 20 million.
The police report was filed by the estranged wife of a sitting senator, who claimed that men identifying themselves as police officers raided her home in search of the money, which they alleged belonged to the senator.
Reportedly, three of the officers who entered her home claimed to be attached to Njathaini Police Station. Upon entry, they went straight to her bedroom to conduct a search.
She further alleged in her report that the officers took approximately KSh 2 million (USD 15,000) and an extra KSh200,000 in cash from her suitcase before leaving
“Upon gaining entry into the house the first three officers from Njathaini police station went straight into her bedroom and took USD 15,000 (Ksh.1.9M) and Ksh200,000 which was inside a suite case and left,” the police report read.
The officers allegedly whisked her away from the house and bundled her into a saloon car—a silver Toyota Allion—before driving off, according to the report.
She revealed that the officers kept pressuring her to disclose the whereabouts of the remaining cash.
After being tortured and threatened, the woman claimed she was released in the early hours of the morning.
“Later on they returned her to her house in the wee hours of the morning after torture and life threats,” the police report added.
