Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO, Abdi A. Mohamud, has landed a lucrative international role.
On Wednesday, the EACC announced that Mohamud had been elected to the Executive Committee of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA).
The EACC boss landed the position after a gruelling election during IAACA’s 14th General Meeting, held on February 6, 2025.
According to the commission, their CEO’s new role within IAACA is expected to enhance Kenya’s capacity to contribute to international anti-corruption initiatives.
“The election of the EACC’s CEO to the organisation is an acknowledgement of Kenya’s continued strides in preventing and combating corruption,” the EACC said in a statement.
The IAACA, based in Hong Kong, is a leading international organisation whose primary mandate is to promote the effective implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
Over 180 anti-corruption authorities from different countries operate under IAACA’s umbrella. The body serves as a collaborative platform for these countries to share expertise and strategies in tackling corruption.
The election of Mr Abdi A. Mohamud to the Executive Committee comes just weeks after his appointment as the EACC CEO was gazetted on December 5, 2024. Before this role, he served as the Deputy CEO and Director of Investigations at the EACC.
