Three students from South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) have been confirmed dead in a road accident on Friday, February 21.
According to reports, the accident that claimed the three male students took place when the students who were on a motorcycle hit a stationary lorry at wa Vonza, Kitui County.
The sand truck had been parked by the roadside due to a mechanical failure, leading to the horrific collision.
According to Kwa Vonza area chief Ronald Mbuvi, all three students died on the spot.
Police officers from Kwa Vonza Police Station have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Their preliminary reports suggest that poor visibility and the truck’s position may have contributed to the crash.
The bodies of the deceased were transported to the Kitui Hospital mortuary as authorities continued with their inquiries.
