Former Baringo North MP Willy Rotich Kamuren has passed away while receiving treatment in Nairobi on Friday, February 28.
Kamuren was a prominent politician and businessman known for his contributions to Baringo County’s politics.
He began his political career in 1963, becoming the first Member of Parliament (MP) for Baringo East, now Tiaty Constituency, under the Kenya African Democratic Union (KADU) ticket.
He was later nominated to Parliament in 1983 and served as elected MP for Baringo North Constituency from 1988 to 1997 under the Kenyan African National Union (KANU).
Kamuren also served as an Assistant Minister in the Office of the President.
His family, friends, and constituents are mourning his demise, remembering him as a dedicated leader who played key roles in politics.
“Saddened by the passing of Hon. Willy Rotich Kamuren ,a leader who truly made a difference through his immense dedication to Baringo and Kenya; my thought are with his family and friends. Rest well, Mzee,” former nominated Gideon Keter stated.
This comes after Baringo Senator William Cheptumo passed away after a short illness on Sunday, February 16.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi confirmed the senator’s demise to the media, indicating that the senator had been hospitalised in Nairobi.
