Twelve people were arrested near State House, Nairobi, on Monday evening in an operation by Recce Squad officers.
According to security sources, officers were alerted to a potential security threat and swiftly moved in to intercept the suspects.
Witnesses described a dramatic scene as heavily armed officers confronted the group, leading to a tense standoff before the arrests were made.
While the exact circumstances surrounding the arrests remain unclear, some eyewitnesses reported that the suspects were on a motorcycle and had snatched a pedestrian’s phone before being subdued by officers.
Others claimed the group was already under surveillance before being intercepted near the high-security installation.
Officials have not provided details on the identities of those arrested or the reasons behind their detention.
