One of the suspects wanted for the murder of British national Campbell Scott has reportedly by suicide.
Samuel Musembi Kamitu, who has been on the run since Scott’s killing, is said to have attempted to take poison before stabbing himself to death in a hideout in Nairobi’s Dandora estate.
He was among three men whose images were published by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as prime suspects in the murder of the 58-year-old Briton.
Among those still on the run are Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, alias Edu, and Bernard Mbunga Mbusu.
Bernard has been linked to a syndicate of online dating, where he uses accomplices to lure victims before robbing them.
Scott was reported missing on February 17, 2025, before his decomposing body was discovered in Makongo Forest, Makueni.
It is believed the suspects tricked the British national, who was in Nairobi, into a business meeting before he disappeared on February 17, after which he was murdered.
Police have in custody two other suspects, Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki, who are helping them with investigations.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Scott was taken to Mutua’s house in Pipeline, Nairobi, where he is believed to have been murdered.
The prosecution said that the two suspects allegedly attempted to access money using Scott’s credit cards in Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa.
They were arrested on March 1 along the Nairobi-Mombasa Road, and it was established that the first suspect had already moved his belongings out of his Pipeline residence
