Council of Governors on Friday issued a 14-day ultimatum to Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, threatening to shut down county operations.
The warning was delivered by CoG Chair and Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru amid an ongoing dispute between the two levels of government over county budget allocations.
“We as governors, issue a 14-day ultimatum to the government, failing which county governments will shut down,” Waiguru stated.
The governors have stood their ground opposing the proposed allocation after it emerged that counties would receive less than the agreed amount of over Ksh400 billion.
