Four members of a single family lost their lives in Siaya County on Sunday evening after a car they were travelling in rammed into a stalled school bus.
The four died on the spot along the Siaya-Nyadorera Road at Uranga, some few metres from Legion Maria Church in Siaya County.
The four—a father, his two kids, and a househelp—were travelling home when the fatal crash occurred.
However, his wife and her other child are reported to have survived the crash. They are reportedly admitted at the Siaya County Referral Hospital.
Their car, a saloon car is said to have overturned after ramming into the stalled bus, with rescuers rushing to rescue the family and managing to save three children and the wife.
The deceased father was a businessman in Siaya and Port Victoria in Budalangi, operating hardware and other investments.
Locals led by Budalangi Member of Parliament Raphael Bita Wanjala mourned the deceased, describing him as a man who contributed to the uplifting of the locals through his business networks.
”I have learnt with great shock of the demise of Robert Odembo Oluoch of Kodembo Hardware, Port Victoria. The late was involved in a road tragedy around Uranga in Siaya County, where his car was hit by a reckless lorry driver, making him lose control and ram into an oncoming school bus,” Wanjala shared.
”We are mourning an entrepreneur and a hard-working businessman who has contributed greatly to the growth of Port Victoria and Bunyala’s economy at large even as we pray for the quick recovery of the kin he’s left behind.”
