Yesterday, President Ruto and DP Gachagua visited Embu County, where they brought with them a number of goodies.
The two who were accompanied by Governor Cecily Mbarire, among other leaders, officially opened the Winas Sacco Plaza in Embu Town, Embu County.
President Ruto stated,”Co-operatives have the power to drive sustainable growth of our economy. We will work with stakeholders to address inadequate liquidity, limited market access and low adoption of proper technology to unlock their potent.”
The commander in chief also launched affordable housing and the Embu Market free Wi-Fi to support e-commerce in Embu County. Notably, he presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for Embu modern market that will accommodate 3,000 traders.
President stated,”Value addition must become part of our entrepreneurial culture. This will enable us fetch more in the market, minimise post-harvest losses and create new opportunities for jobs and wealth creation.”
On his part, Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua stated that Well-established and managed Cooperative Enterprises remain strong even during times of economic downturns. He highlighted that opening of the Winas Sacco Plaza in Embu Town will ease service delivery to members for better and stimulate growth of the Sacco for the benefit of the community.
Additionally, DP Gachagua stated that Kenya kwanza has plans to expand and improve workspaces to dignify all hustles.
He stated,”The 4-Levels Project will host 3000-trader stalls, shops, ICT hub, food courts, a day-care and crèche for breastfeeding mothers, and a mini dispensary. This is in addition to a solid waste component, a social hall, among other facilities.”
Notably, 60th Madaraka Day celebrations on 1st June 2023, will be marked at the Moi Stadium in Embu County. This will be historic, being the first time the County will host such a major national event.
