Speaking at the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival hosted at State house, The head of state expressed how art will make the country progress.
He was joined by Deputy President rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries Ezekiel Machogu, Ababu Namwamba, Principal Secretary Belio Kiptoo, Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia, Chairman of the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival Prof Christopher Odhiambo, among other guests, were present.
The president Commended the students for the skills exhibited during their performances.
On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua highlighted that the government will promote talent especially in the youth.
He stated,”Promoting creativity and talent, especially from youngsters, is one of the ways of nurturing extracurricular activities to full potential in national development. We will continue nurturing this talent, which is part of the art and creative industry.”
He stated,” We are committed to supporting the arts and creative economy grow so that our talented youth in schools can secure their dream careers after studies. In the long-run, this will generate jobs and contribute productively to the growth of our economy.“
The Gala performance of the top items from the Schools Drama & Film Festival this year was organised by the Ministry of Education jointly with @moyasa_ke which is sponsoring all sports and creative events in schools and colleges to the tune of Kshs 268 million.
