Kenya’s problem is a rule of law problem- Lawyer AhmedNassir.
Speaking to the media, Lawyer AhmedNassir opined that there is no much confidence in an economy when you know disputes will not be resolved fairly, expeditiously and in a transparent manner.
He gave an instance where someone makes another title to your property, takes you to court, bribes the judge and evict your children after you death.
He stated,”Kenya’s PROBLEM IS NOT “THE ECONOMY STUPID.” KENYA’S PROBLEM IS A RULE OF LAW PROBLEM! It’s a false narrative that informs our current discourse on how to jump-start our economy. We MUST FIRST ADDRESS THE GOVERNANCE AND RULE OF LAW DEFICIT before we enjoy an economic revival .”
Supporting him, was Miguna Miguna who expressed that the economy problem is largely caused by corruption.
He stated,”The “economic problem” is largely CAUSED by plunder and theft – with NO ACCOUNTABILITY by those who have LOOTED public resources. We have an ASSET RECOVERY UNIT that has never called an INTERNATIONAL PRESS CONFERENCE to tell Kenyans how much it has RECOVERED, from WHOM the stolen resources have been RECOVERED, and the TERMS of recovery.”
“With looting taking place in every sector for 60 years and TRILLIONS of STOLEN public wealth stashed in TAX HAVENS and TRILLIONS “INVESTED” locally and abroad – all DOCUMENTED by investigative journalists, @wikileaks and FORENSIC EXPERTS – Kenya is tittering on the brink of BANKRUPTCY because of DELIBERATE REFUSAL to ACT and COMPLICITY by those in power and the HANDPICKED appointees who have a duty to tackle theft and misuse of public resources for the past 60 years,” he added.
