Walk to and from work, support tax boycotts- Raila to Kenyans.
Speaking today at Kamukunji Grounds, Opposition leader Raila Odinga urged Kenyans to support their tax boycott initiative.
He stated that Kenyans can start doing this by walking to work, to evade fuel tax. He called on all vehicle operators to cut down on fuel consumption.
He stated,”One way, to do this is to car pool. Let us arrange to make regular journeys in single vehicle whenever possible. Give each other a ride. Cut down on non-essential travel. Walk instead of driving whenever possible. I appeal to all the employers to allow their workers time to walk to and from work.”
Notably, the Azimio la umoja leader called upon all matatus to carry excess passengers, as a way of cutting down their fuel cost and also to support their civil disobedience agenda.
He stated,”I appeal to the Matatu owners to support tax boycotts. While observing safety measures, they attend the current fares by doubling the carrying capacity as part of the civil disobedience.”
He additionally highlighted that the people of Kenya must not fall for the lies of the head of state. He revealed that they will hit hard until Kenya kwanza gets out of office.
He stated,”Ruto and all those who think like him are going to learn the painful way, never to mess with the people’s food, fuel and freedom. Kenyans must not trust the insidious smile that Ruto wears, it is betrayer’s kiss. If Ruto meant well, he would have listened to the people. He did not and now we must fight.”
