Cabinet’s 6th meeting resolutions chaired by the head of state.
Yesterday, after the president of Kenya assented to the finance bill 2023, today, the cabinet met up for a number of reasons.
In a press release from the state house of Kenya, The cabinet’s 6th meeting resolutions included various policy proposal and programmes, including state of the economy, agriculture, an assessment of the status of the rains on seasonal performance and the required intervention to address drought.
According to the statement, the cabinet reviewed the status of the digital super highway and digitization of government services in its commitment to enhance the delivery of public services as part of the administration’s blueprint, the bottom- up economic transformation Agenda.
The cabinet also received the tribunals bill, 2023, which proposes transition tribunals to the judiciary in compliance with article 169(1)(d) of the constitution of Kenya, which requires parliament to enact legislation conferring jurisdiction, functions and powers on the courts( which include Tribunals).
In matters fiscal discipline, the cabinet approved a memo on the establishment of a multistakeholder pending bills verification committee. The committee will carry out a thorough analysis of the pending bill that have accumulated from june, 2005 to June, 2022 with a view of advising the government on resolution of the same.
The cabinet also considered decentralization of the state law office and department of justice. The proposal in the memorandum is anchored on the Article 6(3) of the constitution of Kenya to ensure reasonable access to services of national state organs in all parts of the republic.
On ICT matters, the cabinet was briefed on the status of the digital superhighway and digitalization of government services. The digitalization programme is informed by the Kenya National Digital Masterplan 2022-2023.
On sports, the cabinet apprised on the progress of Afcon 2027. His excellency the president affirmed that the government’s intention to host the 2027 AFCON alongside Tanzania and Uganda, a gesture that would further advance the East African Community integration Agenda.
